The Heron Lake community is a 306-acre mixed use development centered on a mile-long, 100-acre private all-sports lake. This project will produce residential and commercial elements intended to capitalize on the lake market currently existing to the north and west. The current lakefront market is primarily secondary residences lying outside easy commuting distance of Allen County. Heron Lake will provide primary residence capability for Allen County and the surrounding region with around 200 residential units. This project will be a true standalone community addition with mixed-use elements fostering a traditional neighborhood lifestyle with unique amenities for both the residents and surrounding area.
Heron Lake is located on the south side of the City of Auburn at the CR11A and CR427 intersection, just off of I-69 on the south Auburn exit (326). This exit is currently shared by the Auburn Auction Park and WWII Museum complex. Just 8 minutes north of the new Parkview North healthcare complex, this site is ideally situated to provide primary residence capability for those working in Allen County.
The lifestyle at Heron Lake will be focused on the unique amenities and natural surroundings that the site offers. The commercial elements at Heron will support the community feel with proposed uses such as a boutique winery, grocery, retail, and professional services. The Heron Lake site will be managed and maintained by a professional property management company, Heron Property Management (HPM). HPM will provide for and maintain all amenities, including the lake itself.
There are additional services that HPM will offer to residents and businesses at Heron Lake which are non-typical to our regional area, such as villa-style services at any lot. The base maintenance activities will be funded through fees assessed to each owner in Heron Lake. The use of additional services will be at the sole discretion of each owner.
